Stable supplier manufactures PFAS-Free paper packaging for fast food restaurants

It is reported by CNN that PFAS, dangerous chemicals, have been found in food packaging at many well-known fast food restaurants and chains. According to a consumer reports survey released in April, the highest levels of PFAS were found in food packaging at Nathan’s Famous, Cava, Arby’s, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Stop & Shop, and Sweetgreen.

PFAS are commonly used in food packaging to prevent oil and water leakage from food containers and drink cups. However, it can’t break down in the environment and it has been linked to higher cholesterol levels in humans, altered liver enzymes, an increased risk of kidney disease, and additional risks for infants and pregnant women.

Under the impact of COVID-19, global eating and consumption habits are shifting online while consumers are relying on takeout and grocery delivery. Therefore, the use of disposable packaging for food takeaway has increased significantly so PFAS in food packaging will hurt consumers. In the consumer report surveys of 2018 and 2020, fast-food packaging and nearly two-thirds of paper takeout packaging containers are containing harmful levels of PFAS. And these chemicals can migrate from paper to food, increasing as food temperatures rise and packaging materials are used for a long time.
